For many years, I've been noodling with a lot of ideas to capture the spirit of Michigan—its people, its places—in design. Michigan Waves™ is my best yet, IMHO.
The cool little waving Michigan dude has been around since I first drew him (her? it?) in 2020, but wrapping a brand around him was a longer process.
Finally ... enter Michigan Waves.
What better way to sum up the welcoming vibe of Michigan?
- It's the only chunk of land on the planet that waves right at you from any map, globe or satellite image.
- And with the largest freshwater coastline in the US, it has waves aplenty.
- Plus, what better way to convey a warm welcome than a friendly wave? (OK, a hug, maybe, but let's get to know each other a little better first.)
And that's where the tagline comes in: Share Your Welcoming State.™
Are you a welcoming Michigander? Share it.
Have you felt welcomed while in Michigan (by its people or places)? Share it.
Do you simply exist in a natural state of positivity and welcoming? Share it.
